Elon Musk announces $20B Terafab chip plant for Austin as AI ambitions escalate

Kind: captions Language: en Elon Musk is bringing a multi-billion dollar chip manufacturing plant to central Texas. According to the Austin Business Journal, Musk announced the 20 billion Terraab plant last night during an event in downtown Austin. You probably saw the beam emitting from downtown. Musk says the fabrication plant will be a built or be built on the Tesla campus in eastern Travis County. Terab is expected to produce about 100 to 200 million artificial intelligence chips per year. You know, in Texas, we're trying to bring a lot of this chip production back here. Obviously, there's the Samsung plant in Taylor. Uh there's the TI plant up in Sherman. You know, Texas has such a rich semiconductor history um that, you know, this could just add to it. But again, those questions remain. You know, as far as we know, Elon has never done anything like this. He's never been involved with the chipm process. He supplies those.
