🚨 Tesla & SpaceX’s TERAFAB: The Massive AI Chip Factory Coming to Texas

Gigafactory Texas, just outside Austin, is roughly 10 million square ft. For comparison, the Pentagon has about 6.6 million square ft. So, Giga Texas is even larger. But what if I told you Tesla and SpaceX are involved in a project planned to be about 10 times bigger? I'm talking about Terapab. According to publicly reported plans, Terapab is slated for Grimes County, Texas, near College Station, about an hour northwest of Houston. The first phase of investment is around 16.8 billion with a long-term vision of more than 100 million square ft. That's roughly 3.6 square miles. Imagine taking Giga Texas and repeating it 10 times. That's the kind of scale we're talking about. But here's why it matters. This isn't another vehicle plant. It's about advanced semiconductors, the chips that power artificial intelligence. Every Optimus robot, every cyber cab, every Tesla running full self-driving. They all depend on compute and compute starts with chips. That's the foundation. In fact, Elon has said that the reason for Terraab isn't simply about cost or leverage. It's because they don't see a path to getting enough AI chips from the existing semiconductor industry to meet the future needs. Even as global chip production continues expanding, Tesla and SpaceX expect their demand for AI compute, including Optimus, Autonomy, and other AI applications to become enormous. The concept is simple. At some point, existing suppliers, aren't going to be able to produce enough chips to meet demand. And that's why Terapab matters. Hey, quick question. And in the Houston region, you have Tesla growing energy presence along with plans for major solar manufacturing. Then there's Bassrop. SpaceX has been expanding its Starlink manufacturing and satellite infrastructure there. And the Boring Company also has a major operation in the area. And now Terrafab adds something incredibly important to that ecosystem. Advanced semiconductor manufacturing. When you zoom out and look at the entire picture, it really starts to become pretty remarkable. Vehicles, batteries, lithium, energy storage, solar, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, robotic satellite, space technology. These aren't just random projects scattered around Texas. They're pieces of an incredibly connected technology ecosystem. And as a proud Texas resident, we live in the San Antonio area. It's incredible to watch this investment and innovation happening right here in our state. This feels like more than another product cycle. It feels like infrastructure being built for the next era of manufacturing, artificial intelligence, robotics, and space technology. And if Chered delivers on the vision that's been announced, it could become one of the most significant manufacturing projects connected to Tesla and SpaceX.
