Description

Elon Musk and his two powerhouse companies, SpaceX and Tesla, have officially confirmed a massive new venture that is set to reshape the American tech landscape, a $16.8 billion semiconductor manufacturing facility known as Terafab, rising just outside College Station in Grimes County, Texas. This is a 100-million-square-foot colossus that will produce the advanced logic and memory devices needed for Tesla's self-driving vehicles, the Optimus humanoid robot, and SpaceX's ambitious space-based data centers. The sheer scale of this project, located near the Gibbons Creek Reservoir roughly 15 miles east of College Station, is staggering, offering over ten times the factory floor space of Giga Texas in Austin and cementing the Lone Star State as a critical hub for domestic chip production.

At the heart of this endeavor is Elon Musk's vision of achieving a "terawatt of compute" annually, a term that underscores the immense processing power Terafab will unlock as the global demand for artif

Kind: captions Language: en So, if you add up all the fabs on Earth combined, they're only about 2% of what we need for the Terraab project. >> All right, we got to talk about one of the most ambitious projects probably ever, and that's the Terra Act. So Elon Musk just announced that they got full approval and he posted the video showing the sci-fi futuristic looking city that is going to be a factory. It's going to be the largest factory in the world and it's going to surpass all global production in this one factory in America in Grimes County, Texas. And this is huge for the area. And there are going to be so many opportunities for so many people. 100 million square ft. You can fit 15 pentagons inside the Terra app. >> We certainly want our existing supply chain to be clear. We're very grateful to our existing supply chain to Samsung, TSMC, Micron and and and others. We would like them to expand and we will buy all of their chips. We either build the Terraab or we don't have the chips and uh we need the chips. So we're going to build terra. In order to get to the terowatt of compute per year, you need about 10 million tons to orbit per year and at 100 kow per ton. We're confident this is feasible. No new physics or impossible things are required to to get there. So I'm confident actually that SpaceX will get to uh 10 million tons to orbit per year. We're building up to a terowatt of solar. So that solves the well will solve the solar problem the power generation. So then the key missing ingredient is therefore a terowatt of compute. The current output of AI compute uh is roughly 20 gawatt per year. This chart explains why we need to build the tariff app. >> The scope of it is so enormous. The Pentagon is 6.6 6 million square ft and you could fit 15 pentagons inside the terrafab. So Elon says that they are aiming for a sci-fi look. Dr. Singularity posted the terraab versus the Burj Khalif and just seen the size and comparison to the building. It's huge. Chris posted the reference of the terrafab in the Grand Canyon. You can see here and here are a few other buildings where you can see the comparison in size and just the amount of investment that Tesla and SpaceX are bringing to the Texas region is just unheard of. You can pause here if you want to see. And John Metaf says, "Congrats to the Aggies on your rising property value." And he's right because this area, this the surrounding 30 m 60 mi, it's going to skyrocket in value as more innovation grows, more opportunity comes to the area. Elon Musk recently committed to using Nvidia GPUs exclusively at SpaceX. He said they're simply the best. The Texas Triangle is probably America's Shenzen. I would say it's an economic powerhouse. They just opened up the Texas Stock Exchange. This is going to be a generational shift. We're seeing manufacturing return to America. We're seeing so many factories being built. There are going to be so many opportunities for so many different roles in this region. We're bringing American manufacturing back.
